The clothesline of poems strung across the streets of Lower Manhattan
every other year also runs on line. This web site features many ways for
all to participate in discussions, exploring and sharing traditional forms
of poetry and creative collaborations.
Post It
Some poetry just has to be let out. The Gathering is born out of a belief
that our legacy of language leaves the possibility of artful communication
open for all of us. We invite our readers to post examples from themselves
and others of found poetry, nonsense poetry, jali praise poems, and
other traditional forms of expression. Please remember that we are not
an online publisher for original work but seek to build interest in
traditional forms of poetry by encouraging participation. We have also
posted suggestions on publishing your poetry on line.
Ongoing Collaborations and Conversations
Using traditional online message boards, we have provided a variety of
ways to participate in a dialogue about words and poetry. For example,
after joining our message board, inside you will find a moderated Renga
Party (the construction of a collaborative poem based on an ancient Japanese
traditional genre), ongoing poetry collaborations, online workshops, hosted
open mic sessions, and "words on words," dialogues about poetry and the
poetry world.
Completed Collaborations
Here's where you can see the results of our ongoing collaborations, such
as The Renga Party, Sestina Workshops, and more.
